Punggol East by-election Nomination Day

Punggol East and #byelection were both trending on Twitter in Singapore today, Nomination Day for the coming by-election in Punggol East on January 26. Here are some of the tweets, pictures and videos I saw.
Four parties will be contesting the seat vacated by the former Speaker of Parliament Michael Palmer after an extramarital affair. The ruling People’s Action Party trying to retain the seat is being challenged again by the Workers’ Party and the Singapore Democratic Alliance as well as the Reform Party, the new kid on the block.
The Workers’ Party and the Singapore Democratic Party are fielding the same candidates – Lee Li Lian and Desmond Lim – who contested the seat in the 2011 general election while the People’s Action Party presents a new face, Koh Poh Koon. The Reform Party chief Kenneth Jeyaretnam completes the field.
Their names and pictures were flying about on Twitter, which also had a fair bit about the two independent candidates whose nominations were rejected and the Singapore Democratic Party which at the last minute pulled out of the contest. The tweets, pictures and videos shown here were put together with Storify.
