Can’t cope without Net: 44%

In a BBC World Service poll conducted by Globescan, 44 per cent said they could not cope without the internet, including the great majority in Japan (84%), Mexico (81%), and Russia (71%). Fewer people felt they couldn't cope without the Net in Pakistan (19%), the Philippines (21%), Turkey (27%), Brazil and India (both 29%).

The survey covered Canada, United States, Mexico, Central America, Brazil, Chile, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey, Ghana, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Australia, India, Pakistan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, South Korea and Japan.
