The Bloggies are coming up again. A Google search just took me to the Bloggies page which showed preparations are on for the Sixth Annual Weblog Awards. The site said anyone can nominate their favourite weblogs till Jan 10 after which three panels of 50 voters will receive an email. It will list the weblogs that have received the most nominations in 10 categories from which they will choose their favourites by Jan 17.
The finalists will be announced on Jan 20, when voting will open to choose the winners. Voting will close on Jan 31 and the winners announced in mid-March.
The Bloggies are big. They made headlines around the world last year. I remember reading about them on Google News and the BBC web site. Boing Boing won the Weblog of the Year award for the past two years. There were also awards for Movable Type, Flickr, Dooce, Defamer, Gizmodo, Slashdot, Wonkette, Plastic Bag and Singapore’s Xiaxue.
